Registration
Domain name is registered for many reasons :
- If you want to have a domain name of your own you can register a domain name.
- If you would like to have a unique address in relevance to your brand name.
- To set up mail, FTP or any service where your brand name places an important role.

If it is available in other extension means you can register that domain name with specified extensions. Care should be taken while registering domain name:
- One person can register as much domain name as he wish.
- Domain name should have minimum 3 characters upto 63 characters long.
- Domain name can be a combination of letters, numeric and hyphen.
- Only numbers from 0 – 9 are used
- www is not a part of domain name. It is prefixed with all domain names.
- No space is allowed within the domain name.
- Domain names are not case sensitive.
- Domain name can start and end with numbers but it cannot start and end with hyphen.
Registration Tenure:
The tenure for registering a domain name can be from one year to maximum ten years. It is better to register for longer tenure than for shorter period. Once your register a domain for one year your license gets expired if it is not renewed after one year. Once it crosses the expiry date the domain name will be deleted. Once the domain comes to public then it is very difficult to regain the domain name. Every year you should be aware of the domain expiry. Hence if you book your domain for longer tenure then there won’t be any tension to renew the license frequently. You can concentrate on your business work than to worry about the expiry date of domain name. Your work load is reduced and renewal of license frequently is avoided by registering for longer period.
Domain Renewal:
Domain name can be registered for a specific years. Maximum of 10 years a domain name can be registered. Depending upon the need and usage the domain name can be registered for a particular tenure. Domain name renewal should be made 15 days prior to the expiry date. Once the domain name is expired then it is not possible to get the same domain name. Domain names will be registered within minutes and there are persons waiting to grab the domain name once it comes out in the market. Hence we should not wait till the last minute for renewal. To avoid the embarrassing situation at the last moment it is better to renewal 15 days in advance.
